Refund and Cancellation Policy

How refunds and cancellations work for paid Philterd subscriptions, including Philter and Philter Desktop.

This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work for Philterd’s paid products, including paid subscriptions to Philter and Philter Desktop. It applies in addition to the Philterd Commercial License Agreement and to the terms of the payment processor or marketplace through which you purchased.

Free use

Most of the Philterd toolkit is open source and free, and personal and evaluation use of Philter Desktop is free. This policy applies only to paid purchases. If you are using free or open source software, there is nothing to refund or cancel.

How purchases are processed

The two paid products are sold through different channels, and that determines how refunds and cancellations work:

  • Philter Desktop is purchased directly through a third-party payment processor that acts as the seller of record. It collects payment, issues your receipt and invoice, and processes any refund.
  • Philter on the AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure marketplace is billed by that cloud provider through your existing cloud account. The cloud marketplace is the seller of record for those purchases, and its billing, refund, and cancellation terms govern the transaction.

This policy describes Philterd’s terms; the applicable processor or marketplace terms govern the transaction itself.

Refunds

Philter Desktop

If you are not satisfied with a Philter Desktop subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of the initial purchase. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method by the payment processor, typically within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.

Renewal charges are not refundable except where required by law. To avoid a renewal charge, cancel before your renewal date as described below.

Philter on a cloud marketplace

Philter marketplace deployments are billed by the cloud provider (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), typically per hour of usage. Refunds for those charges are handled by the cloud provider under its marketplace terms, not under the 14-day window above. To stop further charges, stop or terminate the Philter instance in your cloud account; usage-based billing ends when the instance stops. If you believe a marketplace charge is in error, contact us and we will help, but the cloud provider processes the refund.

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable refund or withdrawal rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.

Cancellations

Philter Desktop

You may cancel a Philter Desktop subscription at any time through the payment processor’s customer portal or by contacting us. When you cancel:

  • Your subscription remains active through the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • It does not renew, and you are not charged again.
  • Canceling part way through a paid term does not, by itself, entitle you to a partial refund of that term, except as stated in the Refunds section above or as required by law.

Philter on a cloud marketplace

Cancel a marketplace deployment by stopping or terminating the Philter instance, or by unsubscribing from the listing, in your AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure account. For hourly, usage-based listings, billing ends when the instance stops; for any subscription-term listing, the cloud provider’s cancellation terms apply.

How to request a refund or cancellation

For Philter Desktop, contact us at support@philterd.ai with your order or receipt details, or use the payment processor’s customer portal linked from your receipt. For Philter on a cloud marketplace, manage the subscription and request any refund through your AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure account; we are glad to help at support@philterd.ai . If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us before disputing the charge with your bank so we can resolve it quickly.

Changes to this policy

Philterd may update this policy from time to time. The current version is posted on this page with the date above. Purchases are governed by the version in effect at the time of purchase.
