For Philterd’s paid products, including Philter and Philter Desktop, your use of the software is governed by the Philterd Commercial License Agreement, which controls over these Terms of Use to the extent of any conflict as to those products. We may amend our Legal Terms at any time without specific notice to you. The latest copies of our Legal Terms will be posted on our Website, and you should review all Legal Terms prior to using our Website. After any revisions to our Legal Terms are posted, you agree to be bound to any such changes to them. Therefore, it is important for you to periodically review our Legal Terms to make sure you still agree to them. The Philter One section below also applies to purchases and use of the Philter One device.
By using our Website, you agree to fully comply with and be bound by our Legal Terms. Please review them carefully. If you do not accept our Legal Terms, do not access and use our Website. If you have already accessed our Website and do not accept our Legal Terms, you should immediately discontinue use of our Website.
Definitions
The terms “us” or “we” or “our” or “Philterd” refers to Philterd, LLC, the owner of the Website.
A “Visitor” is someone who merely browses our Website, but has not registered as Member.
A “Member” is an individual that has registered with us to use our Service.
Our “Service” represents the collective functionality and features as offered through our Website to our Members.
A “User” is a collective identifier that refers to either a Visitor or a Member.
All text, information, graphics, audio, video, and data offered through our Website are collectively known as our “Content”.
Philter One
Philter One is a device sold by Philterd that runs Philterd’s redaction software on your own network. This section applies to Philter One accounts at https://one.philterd.ai, to purchases of Philter One devices, and to their use.
Accounts
You need a Member account at one.philterd.ai to buy and activate a Philter One device. You agree to provide accurate account and shipping information and to keep it current. The Your Account section below applies to this account. We recommend turning on two-factor sign-in.
Orders
Philterd is the seller of Philter One devices. Payment is taken by a third-party payment processor on our behalf. Applicable taxes and shipping charges are shown before you pay. An order is accepted when payment is confirmed. We may decline or cancel an order, for example if a device is unavailable or we cannot ship to the address given; if we cancel an order you have paid for, we refund the payment in full.
Activation
Each device comes with an activation code, provided with the device. Entering the code at one.philterd.ai links the device to your account. A code can be used once. Keep it confidential until you have used it, and contact us at support@philterd.ai if you believe someone else has used it.
Returns
You may return a Philter One device within 30 days for a full refund, as described in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Hardware warranty
Philter One device hardware is covered by a hardware warranty, whose terms are published separately. The warranty covers the device hardware only. It does not cover how accurately Philter One finds or redacts personal information.
Updates
If your purchase includes annual updates, software and AI model updates are available for the length of that term. Updates are not installed automatically; you install them from the device. When annual updates end, the device keeps working, but it is no longer eligible for software and AI model updates. Security updates are provided for the life of the device, whether or not you have annual updates.
Redaction results
Philter One is designed to help find and redact personal information, and it includes a review step so a person can check proposed redactions. Detection is probabilistic: Philter One can miss personal information and can flag information that is not personal. You are responsible for reviewing documents before you share them, and for meeting any legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations that apply to the information you handle. Using Philter One does not by itself make you compliant with any law or regulation.
Software
The software installed on a Philter One device is provided under the license terms that accompany it, including the open source licenses of its components.
Privacy
Please review our Privacy Policy.
Refunds and Cancellations
Paid purchases are subject to our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Electronic Communications
When you visit our site or send e-mails to us, you are communicating with us electronically. You consent to receive communications from us electronically. We will communicate with you by e-mail or by posting notices on the Philterd Site. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Legal Compliance
You agree to comply with all applicable domestic and international laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations regarding your use of our Website. Philterd, LLC reserves the right to investigate complaints or reported violations of our Legal Terms and to take any action we deem appropriate, including but not limited to canceling your Member account, reporting any suspected unlawful activity to law enforcement officials, regulators, or other third parties and disclosing any information necessary or appropriate to such persons or entities relating to your profile, email addresses, usage history, posted materials, IP addresses and traffic information, as allowed under our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual Property
Our Website may contain our service marks or trademarks as well as those of our affiliates or other companies, in the form of words, graphics, and logos. Your use of our Website does not constitute any right or license for you to use such service marks/trademarks, without the prior written permission of the corresponding service mark/trademark owner. Our Website is also protected under international copyright laws. The copying, redistribution, use or publication by you of any portion of our Website is strictly prohibited. Your use of our Website does not grant you ownership rights of any kind in our Website.
Acceptable Use

- Using the Services in any manner that may subject Philterd or any third party to liability, damages or danger.
- Promoting or engaging in illegal activities.
- Transmitting any material that contains viruses, trojan horses, worms or any other malicious, harmful, or deleterious programs.
- Interfering with or disrupting networks connected to the Services or violating the regulations, policies or procedures of such networks.
- Using the Services, or a component of the Services, in a manner not authorized by Philterd.
Acceptable Use Remedies
Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in the immediate suspension or termination of Your account, civil and/or criminal liability, and Philterd may, in addition to any remedy that it may have at law or in equity, terminate permission for You to use the Services. In such event, You are still liable for any and all outstanding charges accumulated through Your use of the Services, including uses in violation of this Acceptable Use Policy or the laws of any jurisdiction. In addition, Philterd may investigate incidents that are contrary to this Acceptable Use Policy and provide requested information to third parties who have provided notice to Philterd stating that they have been harmed by Your failure to abide by this Acceptable Use Policy. Philterd’s failure to enforce this policy in each and every instance in which it might have application does not amount to a waiver of Philterd’s rights hereunder.
Your Account
If you use our site, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. Philterd, LLC reserves the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content in its sole discretion.

General Terms
Our Legal Terms shall be treated as though it were executed and performed in West Virginia, USA and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of West Virginia, USA without regard to conflict of law principles. In addition, you agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts. Any cause of action by you with respect to our Website, must be instituted within one (1) year after the cause of action arose or be forever waived and barred. Should any part of our Legal Terms be held invalid or unenforceable, that portion shall be construed consistent with applicable law and the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. To the extent that any Content in our Website conflicts or is inconsistent with our Legal Terms, our Legal Terms shall take precedence. Our failure to enforce any provision of our Legal Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision nor of the right to enforce such provision.
